Since I have no experience with working on things of this nature Ive been calling around today trying to find someone to work on it that wont charge an arm and a leg.

Its worked fine for 1.5 years.

All of a sudden, no it just trasmits VIDEO through the HDMI cables and NO sound I have 4 HDMI inputs with the following components: 1.

DirecTV HR-20 HD DVR 2.

XBox 360 3. Sony PS3 4.

Samsun DVDVCR Combo I also have My Nintendo Wii hooked up via the Component IN, in the back of the Receiver.

What gives I am not sure of the correct term, maybe passthrough But they DEFINITELY are designed to trasmit HD Video AND Sound through the cable.

I have tried SEVERAL cables and no luck Any ideas oh wise ones Oh, and of course I have a 5th HDMI cable that trasmits all the signals through it TO the Vizo GV 42L HD TV ANY help would be great.

Although I believe the issues usually results in a loss of sync between the monitor and receiver; no video but no audio seems unusual.

About 6 months ago the video started cutting out sporadically for short periods during every DVD or BD.

At first I thought it was the BD player, but different players and different brands all did the same thing.

Fast forward 6 months and now I get the same thing on the 2nd HDMI port.

About 3 weeks ago I got a new receiver to see if that would solve the problem and sure enough it did.

From the googling Ive done and looking at lots of user reviews at various sites, it seemed to me that HDMI problems are more frequent on Onkyos than other brands.

That could just be a function of Onkyos being very popular with the Internet crowd, but it seemed to be more than that to me.

I really liked the Onkyo, had no complaints otherwise about it, and would have preferred not to have to spend money on another receiver after only 3 years, but im pretty convinced it was the culprit in my system.

The issue from what I read is more than just a capacitor problem, it seems that the HDMI daughterboard was poorly placed above a major heat source and becomes brittle over time.

I didnt bother trying for service from Onkyo as I bought it in the US and live in Canada.

If your 606 is still under warranty, then take it to a shop and theyll fix it.

Somewhere in that thread, theres documentation that suggests to licensed technicians to replace 4 caps before anything else.

If your unit is out of warranty, then you can attempt the repair yourself.

My 606 has been acting up (I even posted in that thread.).

I STILL havent bothered to fix it (I have a co-worker who can do the soldering for me), but I just leave it on all the time, and it works fine.

It only starts acting up again if we accidentally turn it off.

Itll take almost 30 minutes to warm up and start working properly again.

Obviously, leaving it on all the time is not a long-term, or energy-efficient, solution, though.

It basically has always had issues since I bought it about a year and a half ago, but finally kicked it.
